Reading – Ch-Ch-Changes: Artists Talk About Teaching
This is a pretty interesting book that contains interviews with artists from the UK and Germany who also teach.
Reading – The 5 C’s of Cinematography by Joseph V. Mascelli
Camera Angles, Continuity, Cutting, Close Ups, and Composisition
This is a great book written in 1965 that explains the nuts and bolts of cinematography. I was worried that it was going to very dated and silly, but I am enjoying it a lot. Mascelli does a great job of explaining the how and the why of cinematography.
Understanding Comics
As I’m prepping for Motion Design this fall, I’m rereading “Understanding Comics” by Scott McCloud. It is an absolutely amazing book, and I am regretting not making it a required text for the class.
McCloud visited APSU in 2007 and it was one of the best lectures I have ever attended. You can see that I got my copy signed.
Below are some photos from the night.
